Apple has decided to bring the long-due RCS or Rich Communication Services protocol in 2024 for iPhones. This move will help the users experience a more improved texting interaction between the iPhone and Android devices. On Monday, the Cupertino tech giant announced that it will provide support for rich communication services on their flagship iPhone devices.
This new update on Apple’s handsets will reduce the heated discussions happening between the blue bubble and green bubble debate. Apple announced this news, stating

RCS Support for Apple iPhone and New Features Supported on RCS
The new RCS standard will make its way to the iMessage to bring new features. These features include read receipts, typing indicators, sharing high-quality images and videos, and more. Furthermore, the RCS comes with the ability to work on mobile data as well as Wi-Fi without any fuss. In the present stages, the Android devices have full support even from carriers for the RCS services.
However, Apple is making to bring the RCS services next year with their new software upgrades on the iPhones. As per the statements from Apple’s spokesperson, the new RCS update will bring a better interoperability experience when compared to SMS or MMS. Moreover, the feature will simultaneously work for the iMessage to provide the best and most secure messaging experience.
Talking more about the RCS feature on iPhones, the feature will launch on iPhone models through OTA updates. This feature will bring a lot of new iMessage style options between the iPhone and Android users. Using this upcoming feature on iPhones, iOS users can now share high-resolution media and their location in regular and group chats.
On the other hand, Apple boasts its iMessage service for its end-to-end encryption and its Advanced Data Protection through iCloud for messages. However, RCS currently doesn’t support encryption as strong and secure as the iMessage. Apple has turned in to bring RCS features for iPhones due to the years of pressure from competitors like Samsung and Google.
